Introduction

First off, I want to admit to the fact that this is my first venture into the blogosphere. This means that I will be learning as I am going.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have been commanded to keep a Journal. All my life I have never done this, never thought that there was much anything interesting for me to say. This blog is going to be my journal, so to speak.

By way of background, I have been a Mormon my entire life. Not only that my entire family, on both my mother and father's sides have been Mormons from nearly the beginning of Mormonism. My ancestors face persecution in Illinois, Missouri, moved west, settled parts of Arizona, and Utah, and have even been executed. There was little chance that I wouldn't be a Mormon. I went on a mission, married a Mormon in the temple and have kids.

While I have always had doubts about my faith I finally decided to be honest (to myself at least) and declare in my mind that I just don't believe this anymore. I don't have enough courage to tell my wife, even though she has picked up on some pretty mighty hints. I have began listening to Scientific and Skeptical podcasts. She has listened to them and seems to enjoy them for the most part, but in the same since has told me that she would divorce me if I stopped going to church. She feels that it is tantamount to a bait-and-switch because she thought that she was marrying someone for "time and all eternity" something that only a believing Mormon can do. I truly love my wife and kids and hope that I can thread this needle without a divorce.

Well that is all that I am going to say for now. Feel free to comment. I plan to post my reasons for leaving the faith, my trials with my wife, the trials I encounter at church, and even posting about some of the ridiculous things I hear at church while at church.

I look forward to hearing your comments
